Treaty Space Gallery – Oct 1 2024

The first of three workshops in the community collaborative project Xandú: Honouring Our Ancestors has already taken place. This event was free of charge and open to people of all ages, with priority given to Indigenous people.
In this paper marigold workshop, we gathered for a meaningful discussion about death, family, and the importance of honouring our ancestors while creating flowers that symbolize the path to guide our loved ones.
Marigolds, or Cempohualxochitl, are an essential element in the celebration of Día de Muertos. Their vibrant yellow colour and distinctive fragrance are believed to guide the souls of those who have passed, leading them to the altar prepared in their honour.
